Finnegan's Happy Tail

Finnegan loves PBS's Nature on Wednesday evenings. He watches the entire hour and occasionally paws the TV screen or investigates behind the screen to find the rest of the animals. He brings us joy every day.

Thank you for being a Rescue angel!

Bailey and Fi Fi

Bailey and Fi Fi, two of K.A.R.'s kittens with feline leukemia love to play!

Bailey and Fi Fi are loving little kitties who love to play and snuggle. It would be great if they could be adopted together, since they can only be around cats positive for feline leukemia.

These two will make amazing, loving pets. Please check out their profiles on our website: Bailey, Fi Fi.

Dot and Fleck

Dot is a petite kitty and has been through a lot in her few months--she's not even a year old yet--early pregnancy, illness and the death of three of her four kittens. She has a lot to say with her eyes, almost as if she can see deep into your soul. Dot is a gentle, caring and quiet kitty; she doesn't meow. If you'd like to fill out an adoption application for her, please visit our website.

Fleck is Dot's surviving kitten. Isn't she just the cutest heather grey little girl!? She's happy-go-lucky and loves to play--with other furry friends or just by entertaining herself--and will probably be a petite little kitty just like her momma. Once she's all worn out, she loves to snuggle and curl up in a ball on your lap and purr like a little motorboat. Fleck will be ready to go to her new home around the second week of June. If you'd like to fill out an adoption application for her, please visit our website.

Rainbow Bridge Poem

We have lost too many kittens to illnesses this year and it's incredibly painful, especially to their fosters who open their hearts and homes to them. This is for the ones we've lost.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

We currently have four kittens will FLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) and they all need a special food, Hill's Prescription Diet a/d Canine/Feline Critical Care canned food.

With so many kittens in addition to our special needs kittens, we could use your help. If you'd like to purchase cans of food, you can find it  at local veterinary offices for about $2.00 a can and drop them off at one of our adoption events.

For other ways you can help donate to our foster animals, please visit our donation page.

Happy Tails for Cheeky and Buttons

As you can see, the two have become ladies of leisure.

Their personalities continue to emerge and Cheeky is reserved and prefers quiet. She loves soft things...this cat is too good for the floor. She usually prefers sleeping in a bed or on something cuddly.

Buttons on the other hand is the life of the party. She wants to be where the action is and usually follows one of members of the household around. She likes to gaze longingly out of the windows and, I imagine, fantasize about the great outdoors.

Cheeky would never set foot out of doors and would much prefer sleeping to staring aimlessly. The two are best buds and doing well.

Take care,
Towania

Feline Leukemia Kittens

Bailey (Orange), Fi Fi (Grey) and Cesar (White)

Meet Bailey, Fi Fi, and Cesar. All three have feline leukemia, and Cesar is currently receiving antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection (which he takes every 12 hours) and antibiotics for an eye infection (which he takes every 8 hours).

Help us care for these three by making a donation on our website or at one of our adoption events, or by purchasing special food for Cesar to help him recover.

Cesar needs a special high-calorie food, Hill's Prescription Diet a/d Canine/Feline Critical Care canned food. You can purchase it at local veterinary offices for about $2.00 a can and drop them off at one of our adoption events.

Update: Sadly Cesar passed away. His infections were too severe and his health was too poor for him to be able to cope even with treatment and special care. We have several kittens that have been diagnosed with Feline Leukemia or have come to our rescue ill and require the same special food. We do everything we can to care for all our fosters and its always hard when we lose young kittens due to illness. Read our Rainbow Bridge Poem post dededicated to the ones we've lost.

Look for a special post about animals that are often deemed "less adoptable"--senior animals, black animals, and special needs pets, like those with feline leukemia--coming soon.

You can read our article about black kittens, "Don't Judge a Kitten by the Color of Its Fur" now.
